Understand the basics
We've provided you with some basic information to guide you through hosting a successful hackathon for your organization on Devpost for Teams.
Picking your theme & schedule
Be sure to select the theme of the hackathon. Different hackathons can drive a variety of great outcomes!
Publishing your hackathon
Publish as far in advance as possible so users can start ideating and forming teams.
Team-building
On Devpost for Teams, people can create a project stub and join teams as soon as the hackathon is published. Joining a team is as simple as clicking a Join button on a listed project. Team members can also add specific users to their project, or turn off team-building if they don’t want additional members. Learn more about team building here.
Promoting your hackathon
We believe your most important job is to promote the hackathon internally:
- Invite your co-workers through the product, or by sending around the invite link multiple times
- Use all communications channels that work at your company (email, real-time chat, calendar)
- If you have real-time chat, we highly recommend creating a hackathon channel specifically for your hackathons!

Creating projects
Creating a project is as easy as clicking the Create Project button, and filling in the empty fields.
Judging
Devpost’s judging functionality is still in progress, but have no fear – we’re hackathon judging experts! We can export projects via CSV if you’d like to run your own process, or we can create Google forms (or similar) to use our suggested judging methodology.
Announcing winners
To announce winners, select your winning projects and they’ll appear on the hackathon home page as winners.
