Community and forming teams during internal hackathons
Hackathons are usually more fun with teams. Outgoing people will not struggle finding teammates, but some may feel uncomfortable or lack the confidence to be proactive. Help them out by connecting them with other participants.
The Devpost platform has built-in team building tools to make this all a little easier. Here is a helpful article on how team building works on Devpost, but we also have two additional ways you can try to spark a team connection:
- Set up a team building session after the hackathon kicks off for those who don’t know where to start.
- Prompt anyone with an idea to share the basic concept on Devpost and to include what skills they need from teammates to build it. This allows others a chance to join them before moving on to the next idea pitch.
Go the extra mile by checking on your participants’ status and directly contacting anyone still without a team to help match them up. Download status by user from your hackathon metrics screen.
