How to add core hackathon details

This guide covers how to add the primary content to your hackathon page, including the description, schedule, and resources.

Hackathon description

The description is the most important part of your page. It tells participants what the hackathon is about, what the goals are, and why they should participate.

  1. Click inside the main text box on your hackathon page to begin editing.
  2. Use headers, lists, and bold text to make the information easy to read.
  3. If you started from a template, the description is pre-filled with prompts and suggestions. Replace the placeholder text with your specific details.

Schedule

A clear schedule helps participants manage their time. The submission start and end dates are added automatically, but you can add other key events.

  1. On the right side of the page, click the + EVENT button.
  2. Add a title, date, and time for your event (like "Kick-off Call" or "API Workshop").
  3. Optionally, add a virtual meeting link in the Event link field or a physical Location.

Community chat

If you use a chat tool like Slack, Microsoft Teams, or Discord, you can link it directly from your hackathon page.

  1. In Edit mode, find the Community Chat field on the right sidebar.
  2. Paste the invitation link to your chat channel.
  3. A "Join chat" button is now visible to all registered participants.

Additional resources

Sometimes you need to provide more detailed information, such as technical documentation, datasets, or design assets.

  1. On the right sidebar, click Additional Details.
  2. This takes you to a new page where you can add supplementary content.
  3. You can edit the pre-populated headers or add your own to organize the information clearly (like "Resources," "Workshop Info," or "Rules").
