How to promote your hackathon and invite coworkers
A great hackathon needs great participants. Your most important job as an organizer is to promote the event internally and make sure everyone knows how to join.
Best practices for promotion
- Publish Early: Publish your hackathon page as far in advance as possible so people can start to form teams and think about ideas.
- Use All Channels: Spread the word through all of your company's communication channels, such as email newsletters, calendar invites, and real-time chat (Slack, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
- Create a Dedicated Channel: We highly recommend you create a specific chat channel (like #hackathon-fall-2025) for all event-related communication.
- Send Reminders: Don't just announce it once. Send multiple reminders leading up to the registration deadline and the kick-off event.
Invite coworkers to a specific hackathon
The easiest way to get people to your event is by sharing a direct link.
- Go to your hackathon’s main page.
- Click the Invite coworkers button near the top.
- Choose one of the options:
- Copy invite link: This gives you a direct URL to the hackathon page. Paste it into emails, chat channels, or any other internal communications. This is the most common and flexible option.
- Invite via email: This opens your default email client with a pre-populated invitation message that contains the link.
When a coworker clicks the link, they are prompted to sign in or create an account and are then taken directly to your hackathon page to register.

Invite coworkers to the main Hackathon Center
If you want to invite coworkers to the general Hackathon Center (not just a specific event), you can do so from the main dashboard.
- From the Hackathon Center homepage, click Invite Coworkers.
- You can copy a general invite link or use the email options provided. This is useful for bringing new employees into the platform for the first time.
